Learn how to be a virtual assistant or blogger while working from home!

Wow, can you believe this is our second YEAR of the WAHMderful Workshops? The .

This May, we’re bringing back one of our favorite, best-selling workshops. This will be our third run of it! We actually ran this workshop twice last year, with 70 women attending the first workshop in January 2013, and another 40+ attending the re-run in March of the same year. So, yeah, it’s rather popular!

See you on May 17th!

I’m happy to present to you the 3rd run of the best-selling “Real Ways to be a WAHM workshop”. We’re calling it “The one about Blogging and being a Virtual Assistant”, though it was formerly called “How to Be a Freelance Writer or Virtual Assistant.” We’re stepping things up this time around!

This will be on May 17 from 9AM to 5PM. The venue will be at the Insular Life Multi-Purpose Hall at the 12th Floor, Insular Life Building in Makati City.

The content

What’s great about this workshop is —unlike the original runs, where we had breakouts — this time, you’ll be able to attend BOTH topics’ talks. The morning session from 9:30AM – 11:30 will deal with the blogging-related jobs that WAHMs can do from home (which branches out to other jobs not related to writing,  like entrepreneurship, social media, virtual assistance, and so on)

The afternoon session will deal specifically with the field of virtual assistance, which is a multi-faceted, multi-skill based homebased job that is very popular among work-at-home professionals.

Basically, if you’re a WAHM already or you’re still dabbling: We’ll show you with our combined 15 years of expertise in WAHM-ing, how you can transition into the WAHM life, even before you make your first paycheck.

How the WAHMderful Mastermind can help YOU (and the schedule of Mastermind #2, Business Ideas for WAHMs)

We had an intimate but very engaging turnout at last month’s WAHMderful Mastermind, the first of a series of support & accountability sessions for work-at-homies. It was held on February 22 at Mothercare Bonifacio High Street. Here are some snippets of the day.

Our topic was “the heart of the WAHM,” and together, we talked openly about our struggles to manage work, home, and family. It was a very real, raw discussion, but in the end, we all committed to supporting one another in our efforts to work at home. (In fact, the session gave birth to an impromptu blogging workshop, just among the moms present!)

This April 12, you can once again experience the support and sisterhood of the Mastermind. Our session will be on Business Ideas, and we will brainstorm the different ways we can put our WAHM intentions to work, specifically towards a home-based business. If  you need guidance on how to find that idea that you can work with, join us for the second Mastermind Class in April 12, 2014 at Mothercare Active Fun, Bonifacio Global City from 11:30 am to 2:30 pm.

Real Ways to be a WAHM New Workshop on April 5

It’s been a while since we last had a “Real Ways to be a WAHM” Workshop! This is our workshop for those men and women who would like to know “insider info” on real jobs that can be done from home. There’s more out there than the usual jobs of freelance writing and virtual assistance (though we have a workshop for that, too!), and this April’s installment is one of our most unique and value-packed workshops to date!

wahmderful workshop manila workshops

The featured speakers here are all experts in the art of multi-tasking and project management. I’m impressed just by how much knowledge they will impart during this one-day workshop! We’re talking about almost 20 years of online work, entrepreneurship and technological know-how on online systems, just between these three powerhouse speakers:

Real Ways to WAHM - 2014 April SPEAKERS

Topics to be discussed are How to Run an Online Store & How to Manage Multiple Projects. This workshop will be held at the 12th Floor, Insular Life Building Makati, Ayala Corner Paseo De Roxas, Makati City (the building has a Starbucks store in the ground floor). It will be held from 10:00 AM to 4:30 PM. Registration will start at 9:30AM and we will also have time for networking after the session at 4:30-5:00 PM.

What Goes on in a Work-at-Home Mom Mastermind?

WAHMderful Master Mind TARP

We’ll be having our very first WAHMderful Mastermind tomorrow at Mothercare Bonifacio Global City

What is a mastermind?

The best definition of a mastermind is this:

Masterminding is two or more people working together toward a goal or vision. When you mastermind, you hold a vision for someone else and they do the same for you; you use your combined energy to attract and create your dreams. This doesn’t mean that you are working on the same projects together, although you can. It only means that you are supporting each other in your visions, you are ‘holding’ a vision for someone, visualizing their dreams as if they are already a reality. — Sandy Grayson, Sandy Grayson Coaching

Napoleon Hill — one of the pioneering thought leaders in person success theory — first laid out the idea of masterminding. Hill believed that —

“The ‘Master Mind’ may be defined as the coordination of knowledge and effort in a spirit of harmony, between two or more people for the attainment of a definite purpose. When a group of individual brains are coordinated and function in harmony, the increased energy created through that alliance becomes available to every individual brain the group.” — Napoleon Hill

This is exactly what our WAHMderful Mastermind is all about. It’s about:

  • coordinating our knowledge of working at home;
  • sharing our individual experiences, while —
  • working for a specific purpose

In our case, we want to be able to support one another towards our WAHM goals, whatever they may be. Everyone in the group will have a different attainment purpose, a different goal that they want to reach. The idea is that the combined energy of the mastermind members helps everyone achieve their purpose or goal.

The Mastermind Format

Here’s a basic format of a mastermind session (such as the ones we’ll be having in Mothercare BGC this year).

Intros & Hellos

Since all of the WAHMderful Mastermind members will have met during previous WAHMderful Workshops, we’ll just do a simple ‘getting to know you’ at the start of each session. This will take about 5-20 minutes before the session, depending on how much time you’ll have in the program. (We have about two hours for each Mastermind session, from 11:30AM – 1:30PM)

The Guided Session

This is the central portion of the mastermind session, where everyone participates and contributes to a discussion. It will mostly be a free-for-all type of discussion, but we will have guided themes so that everyone has some solid takeaways at the end of the session. For the first session, “The Heart of the Work-at-Home Parent,” we’ll be discussion the following:

  • What is one thing that is currently working really well in your work-at-home life?
  • What is one thing you are struggling with, or one thing that you would like to brainstorm about this Mastermind session (and over the coming weeks)?
  • What is a helpful tool or resource that has helped you in your work-at-home life, which you believe will help others in the group? (This could be an ebook, a book, a blog, a podcast, a service, etc.)

It’s important for everyone to take notes during this time, and also exchange email addresses with people in the Mastermind whom they believe they most connect with and resonate with.

Parting & Intention-Setting for Next Mastermind

At the end of the Mastermind, each member should go home with the following:

  • A resource that they will try before the next Mastermind;
  • A specific area of improvement that they will work on and report on for the next Mastermind.

Remember our objective: Those who successfully complete the Masterminds this 2014 will be eligible to win a cash grant to start their very own homebased business (mompreneurship or freelance business). This is perfect for those who want to sell products and/or services, because you can use that money to fund your homebased business!

So that in a nutshell is what will go on in our Masterminds. There’s no “leader” or “main speaker,” take note. Everyone is expected to participate, share and empower the other group members. After all, it is the shared energy, effort and enthusiasm that will help fuel the sisterhood in the WAHMderful community and keep us ever-reaching for our goals.

Are you excited for our WAHM Masterminds? What are you “bringing” to the table? Share with us in the comments!

Creating a Happy Life, Blog, or Brand {Prelude to a Podcast}

I’d like to thank Freelance Blend and Marv de Leon for having me over for my first ever podcast — yay! (Thanks, Marv!)

Listen Now: “Create a Happy Life, Brand or Blog with Bliss-Maker Martine de Luna

Martine-De-Luna-Poster-Freelance-Blend

On this podcast, I talk about how I grew my blog DaintyMom.com, into a three-pronged brand that has eventually become MartineDeLuna.com (my personal website and freelance services site), the WAHMderfullife.com (my site for our work-at-home workshops), and MakeItBlissful.com, my “baby” and the dearest of all my communities.

In summary, here are some of the key points on my podcast with Freelance Blend, which you may find helpful:

  • What convinced me to quit her teaching job to become a work-at-home mom.
  • How my experiences working at home after child birth led me to create DaintyMom.com.
  • How the blog became the storefront to showcase my style of writing.
  • The lipstick sales pitch that gave me my “break” into the full-time WAHM lifestyle.
  • The value of having an audio logo for your brand.
  • How to position yourself to grab the attention of your potential clients.
  • Why it was hard for me to rebrand my already successful Dainty Mom brand into Make It Blissful.
  • Learning when to say “No” to maintain the credibility of your brand.
  • How some of the most successful books are titled and how to apply the same technique for your brand.
  • How to create a job description for yourself and use that to create your own product or service.
  • Why it is important to invest in yourself by taking workshops and courses.
  • How I grew organically her tribe outside the comment boxes of her blog.
  • The importance of having your own mastermind group. (I talk about the Make it Blissful Bloggers Mastermind, a private group exclusive to past workshop classmates of my blogger workshops.)
  • The top 3 bloggers that I follow.
  • The significance of having the best mentors and how to approach them.
  • How I monetize my different websites.
  • How I set different budgets for family, savings, education and fun.
  • How to save and invest using online banking.
  • The future of freelancing and working at home.

Tons of pointers, I know! **Laughing** But it’s 1 and a half hours of me talking and compounding the last 4 years of my life as a WAHM into one podcast. I hope you’ll at least pick up a few points from what I share on the podcast!

The Project Mom – A new go-to book for modern moms

Group 1

This post originally appeared in Dainty Mom, my lifestyle blog. Used with permission.

I’m so excited about Amanda Griffin-Jacob and Bianca Araneta-Elizalde’s new book, Project Mom. I’ve worked with both of these ladies in the past, mostly on website projects for their businesses (and, I’m a regular contributor as well at Amanda’s site for moms, Glamomamas.com), so I was very excited when I learned they would be coming out with this awesome book.

Project Mom is unlike other mommy books you’ve seen locally. It focuses on the needs of expecting new moms and moms in general, with a specific focus on natural motherhood, which is a lifestyle that both Amanda and Bianca live and love. Aside from the helpful chapters (which have gorgeous photos, too), the book includes a comprehensive local directory that lets you know where to get everything you need for your life as a mom.

Project mom book slide

Everything you need to know about pregnancy, bringing your baby home, breastfeeding, health, traveling with your baby (domestic and international), memories and celebrations, and a chapter dedicated solely to MOMS (how to lose the baby weight, the importance of me-time, their favorite products, and bonding with your friends and husbands. No other mom-oriented book has a section like this, so I can tell you that it’s going to be an amazing resource!

I can also assure you that the stuff and tips in this book are doable. The advice and how-to’s in this book are based on how they care for and raise their own families, and you’ll see that they are every bit truly down-to-earth moms. I can say this because I’ve been with them several times when they’re not all glammed up, and they are just like you and me when they’re caring for their young families! I’ve seen Amanda during taping days for Amanda Loving Life taking care of both boys (while breastfeeding Kalon!). I’ve seen Bianca in her hands-on mode at home, where she’s a creative and intentional mom to her brood of three. (The cook and bake together often.)

Here’s a bit about the authors and the “why” behind the book:

 Celebrity Article

50% of book sales on this night will go to Typhoon Yolanda victims. There will also be an amazing raffle with P150,000 worth of phenomenal prizes and 100% of the raffle proceeds are going to help Typhoon Yolanda moms and babies. There will also be a few vendors selling some wonderful organic products. (yipee!) Read more about the wonderful prizes on Amanda’s blog: http://glamomamas.com/help-rebuild-malapascua/

(And, if you want to meet up, I’ll be there with loads of other mommies and bloggers. See ya!)

WAHM Tips: 6 Branding Ideas That May Have Slipped Under Your Radar

Marketing DIY- 6 Branding Ideas That Slipped Under Your RadarIt can often seem very difficult for mom-trepreneur businesses to get the word out about their company. Not only is there plenty of competition from other companies with what seems like limitless funds, but it’s also difficult to find customers who will solely rely on your products when they are in need. However, in today’s age of technology, this isn’t as impossible as it may seem. And with the value that marketing can bring to your company, it should certainly be a priority. Here are six branding ideas that you may not have considered but will likely be helpful for your at home business.

Social Media

Each day, more and more people join social media sites. While some of them may do so to keep up with friends or post pictures, many people do it to find out information about companies and businesses that offer products or services that they need. If you are still undervaluing the impact of social media, your company will benefit from establishing and maintaining social media accounts that will help you with marketing. [Read more...]
